Theology is a dangerous subject. Theology is a subject that does not bring us closer to Jesus Christ. There is a breed or a brand of believers, the Bible believing Christians, that do not occupy themselves with Jesus Christ, they occupy themselves with the scriptures. They worship the scriptures and they have forgotten about Jesus Christ. They are exactly the same as the scribes and the Pharisees of the times of Jesus. Those people did not come to salvation they did not come to Christ, they went to damnation because they rejected Christ and the only why to salvation is through Jesus Christ. We read about them in John 5:39-40 “Ye search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.”
There is a multitude of teachings a multitude of Bible translations that go around. These do not lead us to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, that leads us to knowledge of scripture. It takes people into bondage it does not release them into freedom of knowing the voice of Jesus Christ, getting to know Him intimately, it restricts people to a narrow knowledge of scripture and that is exactly what Jesus said to the scribes and Pharisees. He said: You search the scriptures because in there you find eternal life and you won’t come to me to have eternal life.
Your and my knowledge of scripture will bind us, will take us away from Jesus Christ because the scripture in itself becomes an end and not a means to the end, scripture takes us to Jesus Christ. That is the objective of scripture. Jesus is our only salvation, a relationship with Jesus Christ that will save us, knowledge of scripture will not save us. Jesus will not ask us our knowledge of scripture or which translation of the Bible we subscribed to. He will either say to us: “I know you enter into My rest” or He will say:”Go away from Me, I never knew you.”
This brand of scripture believing Bible believing Churches use scripture to take people captive and make slaves of them. It is these same Churches that tell people they are free they are not under law but under grace, but yet they are the same ones who tell people if they don’t pay their tithes they will not receive a blessing. They use the scripture to their own advantage. Jesus did not ask money, He did not demand tithing? He did not demand money. The only thing that Jesus said was: Come here follow Me. This brand of teaching does not take us to obedience to Jesus Christ. They run away as soon as you tell them that Jesus said: If you love Me keep My commandments, they say to you I am not under law. They nullify the commandments of Jesus Christ for the sake of their interpretation of scripture. If we do not obey Jesus Christ, we shall not go into heaven. The only use of this scripture believing theology is to keep people in bondage to take their money to enslave them to the theology of man. Through various different translations of the Bible they have taken people into bondage. Many denominations have there own version of the Bible whereby they enslave people. It does not lead to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. If we don’t know Jesus Christ and do not obey His commandments we shall not enter into His rest.God the Father sent Jesus and He came in obedience, utter obedience, obedience to death. The only thing He did was to obey His Father and because He was obedient to death on the cross of Calvary God gave Him everything, He gave Him the kingdom. Jesus Christ promises us salvation if we are obedient to Him right down to the last little bit. It is not about our knowledge of the scripture or the version of the Bible that we are subscribe to, it is our knowledge of Jesus Christ which will ultimately save us. He will either say to you and to me come into My rest, enter into My rest enter through the narrow gate it is Jesus Christ Himself there is no other gate. He will not be interested in how well you knew the Bible how well you knew the scriptures which version of the Bible or which version of the scriptures you subscribe to. He will say to you and to me: You searched the scriptures because in there you thought that you will find eternal life and you refused to come to Me to receive life. Only in Jesus Himself, a relationship with Jesus there is life, a future, hope for eternity, salvation, nothing else just in Jesus Christ. Don’t be deceived, don’t be hold in bondage. Put down all those things that tie you down, get on your knees, let Jesus come into your heart, let His Spirit guide you, let Him write His laws in your heart, let Him speak into your Spirit, your mind, your ears, let Him permeate you with His knowledge, then you will know Christ. Then you will not say to your brother and your sister: Know Christ, they will also know Christ. Because you have a relationship with Jesus and His Spirit is inside of you, you will be in unity. You will not be divided over opinion, scripture knowledge and interpretation. Jesus Christ is not divided. If you my brother or my sister, if you are divided today take note Jesus Christ is not divided. The division in you lies in your knowledge of scripture and of interpretations and of teachings of men not of the love of Christ, not of the Spirit of Christ who is in you, Christ is not divided. Let us follow Jesus Christ. He is our life He is our future He is the reality. All these other things will pass away but only those who have a relationship with Jesus Christ will enter into His rest, will spend eternity with Him. His Spirit will permeate them will teach them will guide them, will lead them into all truth will explain to them what Jesus meant and what Jesus said. A relationship with Jesus Christ is our only salvation, nothing else. It is either Jesus and a true and intimate knowledge of Him or we are lost, eternally lost and condemned through our own refusal to seek Christ, to obey Jesus Christ and through our own refusal to accept His invitation for His Spirit to indwell us to guide us into His light.
